Checkup: 35 weeks 2 days

All quiet on the Western front. Cervix 3.6 cm. One more checkup on Friday before the c-section on Monday. We're expected at 7:30 AM on March 17 and are second in line for the OR, so we'll probably be out of surgery and recovery and holding our baby before noon. Funny, despite all the attention the pregnancy has demanded, it still seems so abstract. Well, that'll change for sure on Monday ;).

Now that things have been steady so long and we're so close, most of my thoughts are for the impending c-section. I dread it like a student dreads a major exam, like an introvert dreads giving a speech. It keeps me awake at bedtime and occupies many of my dreams. I will be totally delighted to be on the other side of this major abdominal surgery. On the healing side. Moving forward instead of counting down.

congrats on the good news!!!!!!!!!!your trepidation bespeaks of possible lack of experience in the major abdominal surgery area. is that indeed the case? if so, fear not! you won't feel anything. you won't have to suffer an epesiatomy.(sp) your baby will have a beautifully shaped head! i've had about three ab surg's, 1 being c section, and i always got up the next day and walked. it's ok, really. they might even do a tummy tuck. ask for one. you will need to use a pillow to nurse, but it looks like you have a solid support team to help, which you WILL need, but enjoy the attention. a few years back an olympic ice skater competed just five weeks after ab surg, though not a c section! don't fret, its not as bad as you think, easier than labor. you'll be fine.

Dear Grayson,

Just a few days to go and your boy will be there. We are thinking here in Austria of you and hold our thumbs up. I don't have VP this time but as the pregnancy is going towards the end it gets more and more exciting. I still have 6 weeks to go until CS and am already counting down now. I can imagine better each day how past weeks must have been for you. But... only 3 more days to go!!! Hold on!

Dear Grayson,

Hang in there girl, just a few more days!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
After going through so much you just earn to have that baby boy alive and kicking in your arms. And you will!!!
